There are two ways to check this.
The basic information is available in the UI in terms of visual bars of signal strength. An X on the bars means there is no network available.
The detailed information can be seen in Settings-> About Tablet -> Status.
Signal strength is presented in dBM in this dialog box.
Mobile network state says if data is connected or not.
Network provides the carrier name
Service state should say "in service"
