If I encounter display issues (half screen dark/light, scrambled image, black screen), how do I fix or prevent these from occurring?
- Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 (the standard that enables the incredible data throughput required for 8K 60Hz HDR) is still relatively new; TV OEMs are working on important updates that will be releasing between now and the end of 2020.
- To get the best possible experience update your TV software (see TV setup instructions) and keep your GPU drivers up to date (using GeForce Experience)
- If you encounter display issue they can often be cleared by
- Turning TV off and on again
- Toggling HDR off and on again in the Windows Display settings
- Rebooting the PC
- To improve stability (prevent aforementioned issues) before updated OEM SW updates are available, try reducing color bit depth in your NVIDIA Control Panel
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel -> Change Resolution tab -> select “Use NVIDIA color settings
- Set “Output color format” to “YCbCr420”
- Set “Output color depth” to “10 bpc”
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel -> Change Resolution tab -> select “Use NVIDIA color settings

- To optimize the performance of your game while maintaining image quality try the following
- Keep texture quality and LoD (level of detail, draw distance) settings high
- Lower a few especially resource intensive effects
- Shadow quality
- Volumetrics (i.e. lighting, atmosphere) quality
- Anti Aliasing (at 8K resolution this can can often times be turned off completely without noticeably decreasing visual quality)
Which specific TV models are verified to provide 8K gaming capabilities today?
- In general, 2020 model year 8K TVs from LG, Sony and Samsung are currently recommended; additional manufacturers and specific models that have been verified for compatibility will be listed shortly.
